Punch Speed – Hit as Quick and as Hard as a Bullet

June 13th, 2009 FighterStreet No comments

Speed PunchesMake your hands like guns and let everybody “feel” your hit!

Punch Speed

Speed is one of your biggest weapons for the street fight. The speed with which you can come up with a plan, the speed of your reactions and of course, the speed of your own body movement.

If you can’t keep up in strength with your opponent, it is your speed that must fill the gab.

In this article I’m going to cover one for the subcategories of the body movement. To be precise – the punch speed. May be it is not general enough because since it is called just a punch speed, it affects the speed of all your hand attacks like chops, and other stuff.

You can train your speed punch in several ways.

1. punch speed exercise – Train your punch speed with weights.
Take one dumbbell in each hand and practice the shadow boxing. For more fun stand before the mirror and shadow punch your self. Perform the punching until you are exhausted enough so you can barely raise your hands.

This way your hands will get used to the weight and once removed, your punches will gain incredible speed. It is also a very good way to strengthen your hands and shoulders (mainly the whole upper body will gain more strength and flexibility) …you can gain incredibly strong speed punch with this one.

2. punch speed exercise – Speed punching drills.
Take some hitting point like Makiwara or heavy bag – simply something you can hit. Now perform the speed punch drills. First you start hitting one spot as fast as you can – one punch after another – until your muscles get tired. Now don’t stop punching, just take you time, punch slow and easy. After you gain a little strength back, start a new speed punch drill.

Repeat this until your body won’t let you to perform even one more speed punch drill.

The aim of both these speed punch exercises is that you have to exhaust your body till you got nothing left so it will need to improve. After some regeneration time perform these exercises again.

You can do them in rotations so your body won’t get used to one speed punch exercise so it won¨t have such effect.

Keep practicing and you will see that you punch speed will improve drastically.

Master of speed punching was no one other than Bruce Lee. He was a master of speed and that was the reason it was so hard to beat him. How do you want to hit something that is no longer there?

Improve your speed and try to keep up with Master Lee.

Now I would love to know what you think, fighters…

Eye Gouge – Leave Him Blind in a Second

June 11th, 2009 FighterStreet No comments

Eye Gouge

Eye gouge combat move is according to me one of the most effective techniques you can ever use. When a guy happens to be eye gouged, guess how he would behave?

If you eye gouge anybody, his main concern would be about his eyes. He doesn’t want to lose them and keep his sight. Not only you cause him a great pain with eye gouge, but you can also blind him with your fingers.

Man that is a great thing since you are already performing a very effective technique which is eye gouge itself, but you can easily continue with more also very effective close combat moves like kneeling in the attacker’s nuts, kickin’ his shins, stomping feet or one of my favorites is to blast his head over the wall.

“Doctor! We have a KNOCKOUT here!!”

Are you like millions of people out there trying to fight honestly using only the “tickle me” punches they learned from the TV, or are you one of those people who are really serious about surviving the fight and emerging victorious?

If you are the latter, eye gouge is for you mate.

Eye gouge is a hell of a dirty technique
and if you are really certain about what you are doing, you can leave the guy totally blind without even trying hard. BAM!! Eye out!

The best way how to train it is on the “BOB” figurine. These rubber guys are anatomically plastic so you can perform an eye gouge like you would do it on a real person.

If you do eye gouge from behind, put your palms on your victim’s ears and rake your middle fingers in his eyes. The best way to perform an eye gouge is to pull your fingers through the inner eye hole (the one nearest to the nose). I love to combine an eye gouge performed from behind with an ear blow or ear slap (it’s the same) move. Very effective baby…

A front eye gouge is the same but the only difference is that you use your thumbs for the actual gouge. During that you can do lots of other moves I described earlier. Once you are bored eye gouging – grab opponent’s ears and tear them of his head.
He has never ever suffered so much pain – I guarantee that.

I personally use an eye gouge as an alternative to the throat blow. You have to play timid and wait for the attacker to come closer. Than BAM! – your thumbs are in his ears in a second and it is time for you to lead the party.

Remember to stay safe. Eye gouge is a very effective and dangerous combat move – it saves lives fighters!

Do you have anything you’d like to add? Please share…

Shin Kick – He Won’t “Stand” the Pain!

June 9th, 2009 FighterStreet No comments

Shin Kick

Shin kick is a very powerful and effective combat move. Everybody on the planet have already experienced that monstrous pain when hit in the shin bone during a football match or doing anything else.

I remember when I was first practicing with “bo” (Japanese term for a pole) and smashed the top of it right in to my shin bone when trying to rotate it. The pain was horrible!

And pain is what this combat move is basically about. Shin kick is based on hitting a place on your leg where the bone is very accessible so you can smash it and torture the one being hit. Even a small blow can cause unbearable pain.

As I have used the shin kick quite a few times, I must say that people are really unaware to this kind of combat move. When you raise your leg, they presume you want to kick them in a head or what, but they never think about kicking shin.

The best part is that you don’t need much space to perform the shin kick because the shin is low located and that means easily accessible. It’s fast and very effective.

If you would find a good leverage to your hit and perform really nice shin kick, the person is undoubtedly going to fall down so you can kick him a little more or run away.

One teacher of mine once told me you can even KO someone using a shin kick, but I have never really KO’d anyone with this kind of combat move though I love to use it.

The magic around the shin kick is that your opponent can be the meanest steroid machine in the world, but when you kick him in his shin bone, he would cry like a little bitch!

This combat move rocks and I highly recommend practicing it from all types of stands and angles with just a bare foot. An ordinary steel pipe can replace the shin bone.
Once you gain some habit in breaking pipes with just a bare foot, you are pretty much ready to smack some bucks down with your shin kick.

Just to give you some tips, I like to add shin kick combat move in my “combos”. When for exmple you throw a punch and you happen to miss, the focus of your opponent is on the hand and on height level where the punch was aimed at. When you continue with a shin kick you can pretty much do some real magic damage. Or even execute this combat move simoultaneously with the punch.

He will not see you performing a shin kick, but he will surely feel it. May be more than he would like to.

Shin kick is really a beautiful combat move that can deliver a nice amount of pain and can, if not end the fight, make the fight much easier.

Temple Strike – a Pain He Will Never Forget

June 4th, 2009 FighterStreet No comments

Temple Strike

Temple strike is not a name for some new Chinese shaolin movie. The Temple strike is a combat move with very high efficiency, aimed to the temple part of human head.

The temple is situated on the length of your eye from the outer eye corner. You will know you found the right place by pressing on it – you should feel a little pain.

I highly suggest taking the temple strike combat move as a finishing lunge that shall be used only when there is a clear opening or when you find yourselves behind the assailant.

The temple strike can also cause a knockout if done with enough power of the attack.
Remember that this combat move is considered dirty fighting, so it should not be allowed in regular martial arts competition since it causes an extreme pain.

Now how does the temple strike combat move look like…

Form your hand in the fist. Now take your middle finger and put it little bit forth so it’s knuckle is above others. The point of the knuckle is the striking area. I highly suggest you try the temple strike on you first… BUT don’t kill your selves. I don’t want anybody to get knocked out because of me :)

Just try to slightly hit your temple with the knuckle and feel the pressure it delivers to your head from the side. Try to increase the power a little so you can feel a little pain. You will find out that it takes no big effort to the temple strike at all and it already hurts you.

Now imagine delivering that combat move to someone in a full tilt. “BAM!” Man that shit must hurt!

Temple strike is a combat move that is performed from the side so it can be executed in a hook punch form from the front and as a normal punch strike from the sides. But still you must remember that this combat move is aimed on a really little spot so if you don’t have enough space to perform it well, then don’t! I have experience with temple strike a lot since it is one of my favorite combat moves.

With the temple strike combat move you can deliver really devastating pain and cause some serious damage so I want you to practice and use it safe.

Stay tuned to Fighter Street…

Throat Blow – Very Effective and Deadly Combat Move

June 3rd, 2009 FighterStreet No comments

Throat Blow

Throat blow belongs to the combat moves family that I think should be taken as basic, since attacking opponent’s throat can save you lot of time and trouble. It is pretty easy move to execute. In the combat “quick and effective” rule is always the best option and the throat blow move is a very effective way how to end the quarrel.

In the close combat you want to make the fight as quick as possible – but if you can not fight and you are waiting for backup, you should last as long as possible.

As I said knowing how to hit the throat is a second to none combat move that ends the combat situation almost immediately – similar to the kick in the nuts.

The purpose of this combat move is to hit the Adam’s apple which is located on the fore side of the throat and right behind that is a breathe pipe. Executing this combat move and hitting the throat at the right place and strong enough will cause the Adam’s apple to pull deeper in the throat and block the breath pipe. The person hit this way will start to choke due to the insufficient oxygen supply and to be honest – have you ever been choked for real? The feeling is pretty much unpleasant.

The throat and neck itself is really a deadly place with lots of strike areas and you better protect it.

This combat move is a dirty one, but very much effective. One of the best ways how to hit the throat is a hand chop from the side. The place between your pinkie and wrist is an ideal part of your hand for performing the throat blow.

When you attack from the front, you can either use your fist punch to reach the throat or with the “V” shape of your hand made of your thumb and forefinger. I recommend though to prepare your opponent for this combat move with a preparing move like chin jab or finger blow. This way you can raise the assailant’s head and make the throat open for a strike.

When attacking from behind, you can access the throat with a simple choke hold or head lock. These close combat moves are also very effective and have a great impact.
Remember that when you find your self behind your opponent, always aim for the neck.

Throat blows are very effective combat moves that can save you a lot of time. Be sure to confuse your assailant with a preparing strike to reach the throat smoothly.
Also take in consideration that this combat move can have fatal consequences and should be treated as that.
